You voted and the results are in. Here are the people who will serve in elected positions during WSNA's 2019-2021 biennium.



Margarita López Prentice, RN 1931 - 2019

Margarita López Prentice, former state legislator, longtime WSNA member and inductee in the Washington State Nurses Hall of Fame, passed away quietly in her sleep of natural causes at her home in Bryn Mawr-Skyway, Washington on April 2, 2019. She was 88 years old.




In memoriam: Betty Jule Harrington

Active in professional nursing activities and associations throughout her career, Betty served on the Washington State Board of Nursing, the Board of Directors of the Washington State Nurses Association, and the Inland Empire Nurses Association. In 1996, Betty was inducted into the Washington State Nurses Hall of Fame.

In Memoriam: Dorothy Jane (Dottie) Hicks, MN, RN

Among her accomplishments, Dottie Hicks, MN, RN was a faculty member at the University of Washington School of Nursing and Director of Nursing Continuing Education. She also served as the Treasurer of WSNA.








Passing of Barbara Thoman Curtis

Beloved colleague and dear friend Barbara Curtis passed away at her home in Florida on Oct. 18, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was a past president of WSNA and a member of the WSNA Hall of Fame and the ANA Hall of Fame.


Passing of Kathryn E Barnard, PhD, RN, FAAN

Dr. Kathryn E. Barnard, UW School of Nursing professor emeritus and eponymous founder of the school’s Barnard Center on Infant Mental Health and Development, died June 27. She was 77.
